3D's Max Software

3D's Max Software Application Power

It is not possible to cover the full scope of 3Ds Max.  Suffice it to say that that 3D Max is the most used 3D application for modeling, rendering, and animation.  Originally named 3D Studio MAX, with the release of version 8, its current renaming is simply 3ds Max to either upper or lower case however one prefers.

Without going into great technical detail such as Polygon modeling, Orionflame, blob-mesh modeling, Predefined Extended Primitives, and so on and so forth, let us instead take a look at where and how the power of 3ds Max has been utilized.  To that end we  start with just a partial list of some of the films that have used 3ds Max’s. software to achieve many of these movies stunning visual effects shots.  When looking at the titles you can pretty well assume that the older films used 3D Studio Max, rather than the more powerful, current version 8 3ds Max:

Battlefield Earth, Black Hawk Down, Blade: Trinity, Die Another Day, Dr. Dolittle 2, Driven,  Final Destination 2,  Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Hellboy,  I, Robot, Jurassic Park,  Minority Report,  Mission Impossible II,  Panic Room, Paycheck,  Reign of Fire,  Sin City, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Spider-Man 3, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith,   Swordfish,  The Day After Tomorrow, The Green Mile,  The Incredibles,  The Matrix Reloaded,  Traumschiff Surprise - Periode 1,  X-Men, X-Men 2, X-Men 3,  300.
